Squishy Bubble bounces and jiggles delightfully as it seeks your touch. This simple application provides endless entertainment. Who would have thought poking a jello-ish blob could be so much fun?
The bubble is confined within your screen. Touch the screen and it will move toward where you touched. Tilt and it falls in the direction of gravity. When it collides with the edge of its world, it will bounce and ripple.
Under the hood, a spring-mass system models surface tension, which drives the bubble to return to its original shape. The bubble precisely detects where it collides with its container, and compresses in response (it is not a rigid body, but a jiggly blob, remember). To top it off, the bubble leaves a tracer / motion blur like after-image, so you can see how it was jiggling in the past.
There is no objective in Squishy Bubble other than to play with a toy that is fun. Here are some of the things I like to do with it:
- Try to make it go as fast as possible and squish it into a wall
- Press it up against a wall or corner so that it compresses, storing energy, then let go and let it fly off
- Get it spinning around your finger and avoid touching the walls
- Tap the bottom of the screen repeatedly to bounce up and down, up and down...
- Set it in motion and see how long it takes to stop
